Proposals
We are currently accepting proposals for Special Issues of the Journal. A Special Issue is a carefully prepared collection of papers all designed to address a single topic or theme. If you believe you have an idea for such a theme and are interested in serving as a Guest Editor for a Special Issue, you may submit a proposal to the Journal. Your proposal should include the following:
-
Title/theme of the issue.
-
An introdution explaining the theme, its relevance to the C2 community, and why you feel it is worthy of time and attention now.
-
A list of potential authors. Contact colleagues and obtain statements of interest or tentative agreements to contribute. If deemed necessary or appropriate, the CCRP may release a Call for Papers for your Special Issue to the CCRP Mailing List.
-
A list of tentative article titles/abstracts. If you are able to identify interested authors, it would be very helpful to the Journal staff to be able to review their ideas for their papers in order to further evaulate the Special Issue concept.
As a Guest Editor, you would decide whether submitted articles are relevant to your theme, and advise or reject the authors as appropriate. (The Journal peer reviewers will decide whether the final submissions are acceptable for publication.)
If you have an idea for a Special Issue of the Journal, contact us.
Call for Reviewers
Since its inception last year, The International C2 Journal has now published two issues, received over 30 manuscripts, and currently has three additional issues in various stages of preproduction. We have recently experienced a flurry of journal submissions and are seeking additional reviewers who have published command and control related articles to participate in our peer review process for upcoming issues. If you are interested in contributing, please identify your particular area of expertise, attach a bibliography of your own publications, and contact us.
Call for Papers
Spring 2008: We are currently seeking papers for a Special Issue on “Modeling and simulation in support of network-centric approaches and capabilities.”
Scope of the Issue
Network Centric Operations (NCO), or Network Enabled Capability (NEC), require Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support. On the one hand side, M&S is needed to evaluate the feasibility of NCO/NEC: simulations can be used to evaluate the constraints from the technical realm, such as necessary band-width, quality of connections, etc, up to the operational necessity. In order to support this, a model hierarchy is needed that allows to evaluate and analyze technical, tactical, and operational aspects and factors. On the other hand side, M&S contributes significantly to the orchestrated set of operational tools military decision makers can use in NCO/NEC environments. The use of operational M&S functions is envisioned for new systems, such as the Future Combat System of the US Army. However, in order to use current M&S capabilities operationally, many challenges have to be met, such as net-enabling of M&S systems, standardized interfaces for Command and Control relevant information, verification and validation of M&S capabilities, operationalization of intelligent software agent technology, and more. This special issue is looking for papers to drive the discussion on the issues mentioned above and related questions forward. We are looking for theoretic contributions as well as lessons learned that can be generalized. The list of topics comprises, but is not limited to:
- Data mediation for M&S
- Intelligent software agents for NCO
- M&S principles for NCO
- M&S applications for NCO
- Standardization challenges
- NCO driven common languages
Submissions
Draft papers must be submitted by close of business on Monday, May 19, to our Guest Editor, Dr. Andreas Tolk, at atolk@odu.edu.
